A Few More Ultrasound Pictures

As requested, here are some more pictures from our ultrasound on Monday. I love this one of her foot.

And then with her mouth open and closed.

My mother-in-law, Liz, was so excited that it was a girl and she could buy her cute clothes, she came out to Atlanta for a last minute visit. She got here Wednesday the 12th and we have been busy shopping and painting ever since. (thus the delay in posting the ultrasound pictures). She mentioned something about sewing but quickly changed that to "glue-ing." (Let me add... I think Liz would have been just as excited if we were having a boy, she just would have bought fewer clothes - see the picture below!)

If your mother-in-law has already bought that many clothes for your baby, you probably haven't seen anything yet! Ah, grandparents...you gotta love 'em!

I firmly believe that parents of boys (or, should I say grandparents and relatives?) end up spending less money overall on clothes. Boys are sorely discriminated against when it comes to clothing. The boys section is usually about one-third the size of the girl's clothes! I just go for the preppy look...button down shirt, shorts or pants and we're good to go. Looks like you're having with your preparations!

I know I am going over board with this but as I was nursing my son last night and he was cuddling with his doggie, I thought of a few more... Identical Lovey - Once your child has clearly established a lovey, get a second one exactly the same. It makes switching them out for washing so much easier and if your child is sick and throws up all over Lovey #1, you can "pretend" to quickly clean it and swap it out with the ready-and-waiting clean Lovey #2. We actually have 3 of my son's doggie - one is permanently in the car, one in his room and the last stays hidden in a closet for "back up". Cold Soothie Paci for Teething - We used this type of paci only for a very short time when my kids were newborns, then we switched to a Avent kind that is less likely to fall out... anyway, I kept this kind and figured out these are great when kids are teething. JJ is at it again

Last year my mother-in-law gave us a plastic snow globe, which, the kids LOVE. I think that's in part because they are actually allowed to play with it and real snow globes are off limits. With JJ it is a very good thing real snow globes are off limits. Just watch this:

A Few of My Favorite (Mommy) Things

One of my favorite (no, it is my FAVORITE) blogs is It's Almost Naptime and Missy is doing a Mom-to-Mom post where anyone (even the likes of me) can submit some of their mommy tips and how-tos to make life easier. So without further ado here are some of my favorite things, with and without photos: Contoured Laundry Basket - a MUST-HAVE for any mom with a baby - you can hold it and the baby while going up and down the stairs! And even when you aren't holding a baby, you are likely holding something else. The Time Timer - a visual "clock" for kids who can't yet tell time. We use it for quiet time and I can put up to 2 hours on the clock (the red can wrap around twice) and tell Marie she can come out of her room when "all the red is gone." It's on the expensive side but very cool. (Thanks for telling me about it Jane.) Frozen, Rotten Bananas - well kind of... our household won't eat bananas if they are the slightest bit mushy.
