It's Official

We have a crawler in the house. JJ has been getting up on his knees (or feet) for the last 2 weeks and as of Monday, he is officially crawling. I changed his diaper on the floor of his nursery and then left him with some toys while I tended to Marie in her bathroom. He came out to meet us in the hallway. It's an earthworm crawl (up down up down, not left right, left right on the knees) but he can do it quite quickly and get around. It's going to take some getting used to and I can already tell he is going to be into everything. On Tuesday he couldn't go from sitting to the crawling position yet so he would start to fuss if he was sitting and he wanted to get go somewhere. Wednesday he started to figure that transition out, Thursday is was old hat and now today, Friday, he did this when I woke him up from his nap. (Interestingly enough, I actually have videos of him crawling every day this week and you can clearly see the progression over just one week.) Anyway, on with today's video:
It nearly gave me a heart-attack. We moved the mattress down as soon as Dan got home from work. I will not have my not-quite-6-month old climbing (and falling) out of his crib. Ahhh, can you imagine?!?!?!
Lastly, just one of my favorite shots of my two blue-eyed kids (Don't get me wrong, I'd love a brown-eyed child too some day.)

WHOA!!!! JJ is incredible! I can't believe he almost threw himself out of the crib before 6 months!!! You, my friend, are going to have your hands FULL! I love his beautiful smile. What a joy! Can't wait to meet him some day. HUGS!

OH MY GOODNESS! I can't believe he's already pulling up like that. He must think he's got crawling down and time to move on! Can't wait to see him again soon! :)

I know I am going over board with this but as I was nursing my son last night and he was cuddling with his doggie, I thought of a few more... Identical Lovey - Once your child has clearly established a lovey, get a second one exactly the same. It makes switching them out for washing so much easier and if your child is sick and throws up all over Lovey #1, you can "pretend" to quickly clean it and swap it out with the ready-and-waiting clean Lovey #2. We actually have 3 of my son's doggie - one is permanently in the car, one in his room and the last stays hidden in a closet for "back up". Last year my mother-in-law gave us a plastic snow globe, which, the kids LOVE. I think that's in part because they are actually allowed to play with it and real snow globes are off limits. With JJ it is a very good thing real snow globes are off limits. Just watch this:

A Few of My Favorite (Mommy) Things

One of my favorite (no, it is my FAVORITE) blogs is It's Almost Naptime and Missy is doing a Mom-to-Mom post where anyone (even the likes of me) can submit some of their mommy tips and how-tos to make life easier. So without further ado here are some of my favorite things, with and without photos: Contoured Laundry Basket - a MUST-HAVE for any mom with a baby - you can hold it and the baby while going up and down the stairs! And even when you aren't holding a baby, you are likely holding something else. The Time Timer - a visual "clock" for kids who can't yet tell time. We use it for quiet time and I can put up to 2 hours on the clock (the red can wrap around twice) and tell Marie she can come out of her room when "all the red is gone." It's on the expensive side but very cool. (Thanks for telling me about it Jane.) Frozen, Rotten Bananas - well kind of... our household won't eat bananas if they are the slightest bit mushy.
