In the home stretch... kitchen update

I started a kitchen update post last week but didn't get it finished and now we have progressed so much further that what I wrote isn't really applicable. The big news is... GRANITE WAS INSTALLED TODAY! Yes, I am yelling. I love my granite so that is just exciting. They started at 4:30 this afternoon and left at 9 pm!! Poor guys, they are going to be sore tomorrow. There was only two of them to install my 10 ft+ island. I'll give you a sneak peak but I want to take more pictures tomorrow in the daylight.
Everything should be done in just a few short weeks - like maybe even just a week and a half. Cabinets are in but not the cabinet doors. Appliances are here but needed to have the granite in before most could be installed. Pantry shelving is in but not finalized - it will take some tweaking for me to get it all figured out and I need to see what will go in the rest of the kitchen before I can really figure that out. The pantry door is on but no handle yet. New carpet is in the playroom (yhea - no more disgusting stained carpet! Although the first piece was cut inaccurately and was too narrow for the room. Good thing I have a minivan that can hold a 15' roll of carpet. I digress.) We now have a working powder room again, minus the mirror, nice light fixture and hand towels but it does have a beautiful stenciled wall! If the mirror and such goes up tomorrow I will take picture of that too. So that last of my decisions to be made are pendant lights over the island, counter stools, and cabinet hardware. Of these only the pendant lights have more than two options. Will I ever be done? And then once I am, the moving back is going to be quite laborious. Although, it will be moving into my brand new kitchen so I really can't complain.

I know I am going over board with this but as I was nursing my son last night and he was cuddling with his doggie, I thought of a few more... Identical Lovey - Once your child has clearly established a lovey, get a second one exactly the same. It makes switching them out for washing so much easier and if your child is sick and throws up all over Lovey #1, you can "pretend" to quickly clean it and swap it out with the ready-and-waiting clean Lovey #2. We actually have 3 of my son's doggie - one is permanently in the car, one in his room and the last stays hidden in a closet for "back up". Cold Soothie Paci for Teething - We used this type of paci only for a very short time when my kids were newborns, then we switched to a Avent kind that is less likely to fall out... anyway, I kept this kind and figured out these are great when kids are teething. JJ is at it again

Last year my mother-in-law gave us a plastic snow globe, which, the kids LOVE. I think that's in part because they are actually allowed to play with it and real snow globes are off limits. With JJ it is a very good thing real snow globes are off limits. Just watch this:

A Few of My Favorite (Mommy) Things

One of my favorite (no, it is my FAVORITE) blogs is It's Almost Naptime and Missy is doing a Mom-to-Mom post where anyone (even the likes of me) can submit some of their mommy tips and how-tos to make life easier. So without further ado here are some of my favorite things, with and without photos: Contoured Laundry Basket - a MUST-HAVE for any mom with a baby - you can hold it and the baby while going up and down the stairs! And even when you aren't holding a baby, you are likely holding something else. The Time Timer - a visual "clock" for kids who can't yet tell time. We use it for quiet time and I can put up to 2 hours on the clock (the red can wrap around twice) and tell Marie she can come out of her room when "all the red is gone."
