Marie has friends!

Well since it has been a months since posted, I figured I would do two in one night! The next post after this will be our trip to Arizona and will really try to get that done tomorrow or at least before we leave town for Charleston (and Marie's first beach trip)!

After two fussy days and a long fussy morning, Marie is finally back to herself! While I write this at my desk though, she is happily at work in her desk as well:

I don't know if it was the 4 shots she got on Thursday, the upset stomach she had or "wonder week" #19 but whatever it was, it took a toll on her (and me). She weighed in at just over 16 pounds and is 25 1/4 long! 90% for weight and 80% for height.




On Friday, I had a friend come over who has a little girl six weeks younger than Marie named Alyssa. She was quite talkative and Marie got all shy (although you wouldn't guess it by this picture).



Now that I think about it, Marie was a little shy around Ellie Adams too (my good friend Brooke's second daughter). These were taken at Brooke's house when I spent all day there consulting with Brooke regarding how to make my Mai Tei. (For those of you that haven't been around babies lately, Marie is sitting in a Bumbo.)

I know I am going over board with this but as I was nursing my son last night and he was cuddling with his doggie, I thought of a few more... Identical Lovey - Once your child has clearly established a lovey, get a second one exactly the same. It makes switching them out for washing so much easier and if your child is sick and throws up all over Lovey #1, you can "pretend" to quickly clean it and swap it out with the ready-and-waiting clean Lovey #2. We actually have 3 of my son's doggie - one is permanently in the car, one in his room and the last stays hidden in a closet for "back up". Cold Soothie Paci for Teething - We used this type of paci only for a very short time when my kids were newborns, then we switched to a Avent kind that is less likely to fall out... anyway, I kept this kind and figured out these are great when kids are teething. JJ is at it again

Last year my mother-in-law gave us a plastic snow globe, which, the kids LOVE. I think that's in part because they are actually allowed to play with it and real snow globes are off limits. With JJ it is a very good thing real snow globes are off limits. Just watch this:

A Few of My Favorite (Mommy) Things

One of my favorite (no, it is my FAVORITE) blogs is It's Almost Naptime and Missy is doing a Mom-to-Mom post where anyone (even the likes of me) can submit some of their mommy tips and how-tos to make life easier. So without further ado here are some of my favorite things, with and without photos: Contoured Laundry Basket - a MUST-HAVE for any mom with a baby - you can hold it and the baby while going up and down the stairs! And even when you aren't holding a baby, you are likely holding something else. The Time Timer - a visual "clock" for kids who can't yet tell time. We use it for quiet time and I can put up to 2 hours on the clock (the red can wrap around twice) and tell Marie she can come out of her room when "all the red is gone." It's on the expensive side but very cool. (Thanks for telling me about it Jane.) Frozen, Rotten Bananas - well kind of... our household won't eat bananas if they are the slightest bit mushy.
