First Day of School - From Last Week

Pre-school started last week, yes I know I am behind. Here are some pictures from Marie's first day of "school". She had a good time but what she really loved was her dance class. She is taking pre-ballet and tap once a week right after school. She said it was her favorite part of the day. I'll try to get some better pictures of that and post them later this week. She looks sooo different from this time last year - a shy little toddler compared to an independent, determined little girl.
Here's the look we get a lot these days. And this is the first day of school last year... crazy! Lamby is still her favorite lovey though and she sleeps with him every night. Bunny is a close second.

I know I am going over board with this but as I was nursing my son last night and he was cuddling with his doggie, I thought of a few more... Identical Lovey - Once your child has clearly established a lovey, get a second one exactly the same. It makes switching them out for washing so much easier and if your child is sick and throws up all over Lovey #1, you can "pretend" to quickly clean it and swap it out with the ready-and-waiting clean Lovey #2. Last year my mother-in-law gave us a plastic snow globe, which, the kids LOVE. I think that's in part because they are actually allowed to play with it and real snow globes are off limits. With JJ it is a very good thing real snow globes are off limits. Just watch this:

A Few of My Favorite (Mommy) Things

One of my favorite (no, it is my FAVORITE) blogs is It's Almost Naptime and Missy is doing a Mom-to-Mom post where anyone (even the likes of me) can submit some of their mommy tips and how-tos to make life easier. So without further ado here are some of my favorite things, with and without photos: Contoured Laundry Basket - a MUST-HAVE for any mom with a baby - you can hold it and the baby while going up and down the stairs! And even when you aren't holding a baby, you are likely holding something else. The Time Timer - a visual "clock" for kids who can't yet tell time. We use it for quiet time and I can put up to 2 hours on the clock (the red can wrap around twice) and tell Marie she can come out of her room when "all the red is gone."
